On January 14, 2015, the BCBA Real Property Committee hosted a brown bag lunch on commercial real estate contracts. Our speakers were BCBA member Douglas Burgess with Nolan, Plumhoff & Williams, and Bob Aumiller and Joe Bradley with MacKenzie Commercial. Our panel was extremely knowledgeable, with each member having years of experience in the real estate industry.
Mr. Burgess discussed a wide range of topics, including contract drafting, letters of intent, pre-contract considerations, study periods, and real estate financing. Mr. Bradley and Mr. Aumiller discussed the role of the real estate broker in a commercial transaction and stressed the importance of knowing the local market and the trends in the industry.
All in all, the January lunch was very successful. The room was packed and the speakers were engaging and knowledgeable. Please be on the lookout for future brown bag lunches sponsored by the Real Property Committee. In addition, a dinner event is in the works – likely a joint committee event with the State, Local Laws & Zoning Committee.
