Court Closing and Delayed Opening Policy
The normal opening time for public access to the Circuit Court is 8:00 a.m. The Clerk’s Office opens at 8:30 a.m. and docket times for each Courtroom start between 9:00 and 9:30 a.m.
If weather or other issues cause the Court to close or to delay opening, information will be reported to the news media, posted on the Court’s website, and sent to the Baltimore County Bar Association. If the Court opens late, the report will indicate the time that the Courthouse will open to the public. Employees will be asked to report a half hour prior to the stated opening time, and the Sheriff’s Office will allow employees only to enter the Courthouse prior to the designated opening time.
Dockets will typically begin thirty minutes after the designated late opening time. However the start time for cases being carried over from a prior day will be left to the discretion of the assigned judge. Please advise clients and witnesses to report promptly so cases can proceed in a timely manner.
