THE COLLECTION
The library contains approximately 100,000 volumes of materials relating to state and federal law, with a strong emphasis on Maryland law. Special collections include county codes; Maryland Courts of Appeals briefs on microfiche; all currently available MICPELs; over 60 law reviews; and extensive tax and labor collections.

CATALOGS AND MAP
The library has both an online catalog and a traditional card catalog to assist you in locating materials. User guides for the online catalog are available at the reference desk.

MEDIA ROOM SERVICES
Through the generosity of Judges Dana M. Levitz and John G. Turnbull II, a well-equipped media room is available for the use of members of the Baltimore County Bar Association. The room houses two individual TV/VCR units with headphones. For group viewing, a large screen television is available. You may bring your own videos or choose from the library's legal video collection.

PHOTOCOPIERS
The library has three self-service copiers. Copies are $.20 per page. Photocopy cards in $5.00 - $80.00 copy increments may be purchased at the reference desk.

FAX MACHINE
Charges for use of the library's fax machine are as follows:

To Send: $1.00 per page (local calls) $1.25 per page (long distance calls)
To Receive: 1st page-$2.00 pages 2--$1.00 per page

LEGAL VIDEOTAPES
The library has an extensive collection of legal videotapes. You may view these videos in the library's media room or you may sign them out for a week's loan. A fifty dollar deposit is required for each video borrowed. LEGAL AUDIOTAPES
The library's collection of MICPEL and ABA audiotapes is available for loan. A $25.00 deposit is required per title and the loan period is one week. Please see the Index of Reserve Material binder at the reference desk for a complete listing of the library's audiotape collection.

FORMS ON DISK
A number of treatises in the library have companion forms disks. These disks are available for a one week loan and require a $25.00 deposit per title. For a complete listing of available disks, please see the Index of Reserve Material binder at the reference desk.

COMPUTER RESEARCH AREA
The library has three computer terminals dedicated to CD-ROM, Internet and online research. The library subscribes to over 40 legal CD-ROM titles. Lexis, Westlaw, and Internet Access is also available. You must sign-up at the reference desk to use a terminal.

Monthly training sessions are offered on using CD-RAM and online services. Please consult the Law Library's Web Page for a schedule of training sessions.

VCR RENTAL
The library has a VCR available for rental. Reservations are required.

Rental fees are as follows:
3 days or less - $25.00
4 days or more - $50.00

A separate $50.00 check for a security deposit is required. Checks should be made payable to "Baltimore County".

ELMO RENTAL
An ELMO visual presenter for use in court proceedings is available for rental. Reservations are required. The rental fee is $25.00 per day and a separate $75.00 check for a security deposit is required. Checks should be made payable to "Baltimore County".

LIBRARY RULES

  • Eating and drinking are prohibited.
  • Patrons are responsible for reshelving their materials.
  • Patrons must refrain from loud or excessive talking.
  • Books may not be taken from the library.
  • The use of cellular phones is prohibited.
  • Children must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Copy machines are turned off 15 minutes before closing.
  • All patrons are required to sign-in at the front desk.
