Committee Notes & News

As you know the Annual Bull Roast is Sunday, March 7, 2010. We need to have donation items to Doris by February 5, 2010 (30 days from now) in order to get the items listed in the program. Please be diligent in your follow up on your donation requests in the next week or two and provide me with a status update as soon as you can. The earlier we can get donations secured the better our opportunity to advertise them and promote what a great event the Bull Roast will be. The Charity for this year is the Robert Packard Center for ALS Research at Johns Hopkins.

The next Young Lawyers meeting will be on January 21, 2010 at 4:30 p.m. in the Grand Jury Room of the County Courts Building. Following the meeting, we will join the MSBA Young Lawyers' Happy Hour at the Greene Turtle from 5:00- 8:00 p.m. At the meeting, we will be discussing donations and volunteers needed for the bull roast, as well as upcoming chamber chats and events. The bull roast is from 2-6 pm this year and we will need volunteers to help with set up and clean up, as well as approximately 6 volunteers per hour to help with the stuffed animal wheel, money wheel and selling raffle tickets for the 50/50 and prize raffles. If you know that you will be able to volunteer but are unsure if you can attend the meeting on 1/21, please send me an email with your availability for the bull roast and any update on donation requests and status.

PREVIOUS NOTES ...

For the Bull Roast, I am asking that everyone please try to get their initial solicitation letter completed and out by November 6, 2009. With the holidays approaching and February being so short, we need to work fast.

Plus, this year Doris wants all donations confirmed and received in the bar office no later than February 5, 2009. This allows enough time for advertising in the Advocate and printing programs but also means that we have just over 90 days to get these donations in. Please work quickly on this. We have a great charity this year and with diligent contact and follow through I'm sure we'll get incredible donations.

I have sorted out vendors in the attached "solicitation" list and asked you to contact them. Each person has only 4-5 companies to contact so I'm hoping sending out a letter within the next two weeks will not present any difficulty. This list is not all inclusive. There are more members on this committee and I would greatly appreciate their help as there are many, many more vendors and companies we can contact. I have attached a second document entitled simply "Bull Roast 2010" which contains a list of possible companies to contact that have not been assigned to anyone. If you'd like to contact them, please let me know as we don't want multiple people contacting the same company but we do want as many donations as possible. If you have not already been asked to contact someone, or if you want to contact additional companies, please let me know.

(See attached file: Bull Roast.2010. Auction Solicitations.doc). (See attached file: Bull Roast2010.doc)

If you need a sample solicitation letter, I have attached that as well.

Please change the highlighted areas. I just want to make it as easy as possible as your efforts are greatly appreciated and I don't want to overburden anyone.

Thanks for all of your help. See you on November 3rd.
