President's Message : Debra G. Schubert: April 2007

For those of you who attended the Young Lawyers Bull & Oyster Roast on March 4, 2007 you found a myriad of exciting items in the silent auction, including my horseback riding donation to ride horses with me in Gunpowder State Park. I was thrilled that we had several folks trying to out bid each other for a chance to experience cowboy hats and a sore derriere. To avoid pistols being drawn in front of the bar office it was best to increase my donation to two trail rides and keep all the cowpokes happy.

The bull roast was a great success and a special thanks to Rebecca Fleming and all of our young lawyers for a job well done. Thanks to John Nagle and the Mighty, Mighty Barristers for great music and for the Stevie Ray Vaughn songs heard throughout the day. It brought back fond memories of my UT college days on "6th Street" in Austin, Texas. Our charity, Family Crisis Center, is the recipient of proceeds from the event and the funds will be put to great use helping those in need in Baltimore County.

We are oftentimes overwhelmed with work and family responsibilities that we neglect to keep in contact with those who have touched our lives over the years. There is no time like the present to drop a note, make a call or even meet your high school buddy in Florida for some sun and fun. With me in the photo is my good friend Cindy, her daughter Rynn, and of course, Tigger. Cindy and I were basketball teammates for the Berkner High School Rams in Dallas, Texas. I recently traveled to Florida for a long weekend to meet Cindy and her kids in Orlando and we kept them in stitches telling stories of our escapades with our teammates, bus trips, boys, and avoiding the "dry" district in big "D." It was great fun, so make that call to an old friend, plan a trip and reminisce about old times!

Thanks again to all of you who supported our Young Lawyers Bull & Oyster Roast! I hope to see all of you there next year!
