Seventy degrees in January! I hope all of you have enjoyed the incredible weather this winter and you've taken the time to get out of your offices. Remember, we all need a life outside the practice of law!
Despite being "swamped" (like most of you) I have made the time this winter to enjoy horseback riding several times a week. I'm fortunate to live next to Gunpowder State Park, and there is no better way to take in the scenic rolling hills, flowing creeks and waterfalls, herds of deer and other wildlife, then in the saddle! And soon two lucky folks attending the Young Lawyers Bull Roast on March 4th will join me on a trail ride, as I've donated a two-hour ride in the park for the silent auction. Get out your cowboy hats, boots and Wranglers and get ready to ride!
Our Young Lawyers Committee is hard at work to make the March 4th Bull Roast a success and we need your help! Remember, proceeds benefit a charity, and this year our charity is the Family Crisis Center of Baltimore County. Obviously, the volunteers and staff at the center will not be able to sell as many tickets as some of our prior recipients, so it’s very important that all of you support this event. The Mighty, Mighty Barristers with Past President John Nagle will appear live, on stage, and I'm sure we'll hear a few Stevie Ray Vaughn songs - special request from your President! Bring your families, friends and your wallets and bid high on all of the silent auction items, especially the one on horseback!
A special "thank you" to the volunteers who have taken the time out of their busy schedules to visit and answer questions from the residents of the Family Crisis Center. Susan Terlep, Bambi Glenn, Angela Silverstein, Becky Fleming (our fantastic Young Lawyers Chair) and Kelly Burke deserve a round of applause for "giving something back." Thank you again ladies!
