President's Message : Debra G. Schubert: November 2006

This fall we are certainly off to a "racing" start! Our committees are meeting,  educational and social events are in abundance and the Bar Association is moving forward!

The joint crab feast with the Baltimore City Bar Association was a huge success and we once again thanked our incoming and outgoing judicial law clerks with a complementary evening. Live music was provided by "The Objections" with our own Jane Santoni and Joe Williams.  Schultz's Crab House in Essex was rocking and the crabs were unbelievable!

Thanks to Baltimore City Bar President Mark Scurti, Executive Directors Kathy Sanzone and Doris Barnes for pulling together such a fantastic event! Its great to reach out to our fellow Bar Associations and we'll try to make this an annual event!

Our Bar Association has been "giving back" and we've started the free domestic law lectures at our charity, Family Crisis Center. Our first volunteer was Angela Silverstein, who gave an informative lecture that prompted numerous questions from the residents. A special "thank you" to Angela for her time and to all those who have signed up for future lectures!

Thanksgiving is around the corner and I know all of us have so many wonderful people in our lives for whom to be thankful. Let those people know how you feel and let’s not forget to be grateful for all of our blessings.

Finally, the photo....Remember my first column wherein I reminded all to have a "life" outside the law? Well, in keeping with that suggestion I had the adventure of a lifetime driving a NASCAR race car for 20 laps over 125mph at the Dover Motor Speedway! I could not go fast enough, lapped everyone on the track and the smile on my face could not be removed for several days!  We all work too hard not to enjoy ourselves so try to DO the things you say you'll "get to one day."

 Do it now !!
