President's Message : John W. Nowicki: April 2004

The Young Lawyers Annual Bull & Oyster Roast held March 7 at the Towson American Legion was once again a lot of fun and a great success.

The BCBA Young Layers Committee and our designated charity this year, The American Lung Association Local Chapter, did a great job of filling The American Legion for this event.

Entertainment provided by The Mighty, Mighty Barristers led by our own Past President John Nagle was excellent.
Silent Auction items were extraordinary. Through the efforts of our Executive Director, Heather Martin, our interns Sylvia Dianderos, Tricia Jenkins and Carli Mugford and our Young Lawyers Committee led by Adam Sampson, silent auction items included a weekend to New York, an overnight stay at the historic Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, Virginia and an overnight stay at the Annapolis Marriott Waterfront Hotel. Food and dining items included a gift basket from The Baltimore Coffee and Tea Company, cigars from Main Street Cigars, a Smoothie King certificate, an ice cream cake from Moxley’s Ice Cream, a Papa John’s gift certificate, Krispy Kreme coupons along with gift certificates for dining at The Ambassador Dining Room, Cosmopolitan Bar & Grill, McCafferty’s Restaurant, Silver Spring Mining Company, Hooters, Baja Fresh Mexican Grill, Adoba Mexican Grill, Uno Chicago Grill Harborplace, Bill Bateman’s Bistro, The Turf Restaurant and Sports Bar and Au Poitin Stil. For the sports minded items included Oriole memorabilia and tickets and Baltimore Blast tickets. For the active sports minded there were auction items including memberships to Gold’s Gym, The Maryland Athletic Club, Flex Ability and AMF Bowling along with athletic apparel. For arts, theatre and music fans items included tickets to The Walters Art Museum, Ladew Topiary Gardens and Ladew Summer Concert Series, Head Theatre tickets to PICNIC, a Baltimore Symphony Orchestra concert, National Aquarium tickets and a Brooke Wagner abstract painting. Finally, wine connoisseurs could choose from a tasting at Woodhall Wine Cellars, Cygnus Wine Cellars or Basignani Winery.

As you can tell, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Thanks to all who participated and made this event such a success.
