By the time you receive this issue of The Advocate, Thanksgiving will be over and the Holiday Party will be fast approaching on December 5th.    We will be traveling at break-neck speed through the holiday season once again without taking time to enjoy the sights, sounds and wonderful fragrances that surround us this time of year. PLEASE SLOW DOWN.  If you were in a hospital you couldn’t make that extra dollar and you would realize that it really doesn’t matter at all.  Time with family and friends is the richest treasure.  If you happen to think of someone that you haven’t talked to for some period of time while you are reading this article please stop, get the phone number and make the call.  You will be glad that you did.

As lawyers we are all goal oriented, but I tell you the truth that the goal is just the end of the journey. The process is really the goal.  If we do not take time to be thankful for our situation in life, years will fly by and we will never savor the delight of the moment at hand.  Take a half day, or even a whole day off; buy a special gift for a friend and don’t to forget to laugh as often as you can.  I was reading the other day that a cheerful heart is good medicine and you don’t need a prescription card! We are the educated  in society and we are supposed to be  the smart ones . So why do we act like we will live forever?  Don’t we know that life is but a vapor, but a moment?  It is better to give than to receive.  We have so much. Helping those in need is the laughter and the joy that will make your heart merry and be medicine for your whole body.  We cannot avoid stress; it camps around us ready to attack everyday.  This book I was reading asked the question, which of you can add an inch to your height by worrying?  If worrying will help you then please disregard my words and worry day and night, but if I have stated a morsel of truth please take a chance and enjoy this holiday season.  In order to insure your joy, maintain an attitude of gratitude and you will take the first step of having this Season’s  peace on earth.
